October RecipientJasmine Meadows

Jasmine, a 2005 graduate of Needham High School, is a freshman at Regis College. While a student at Needham High School, Jasmine tried to do positive things that reflected her enthusiasm for peace. Dr. Hogan, Assistant Principal at Needham High School, who nominated her for this award stated that Jasmine is a voice of reason who advocates effectively for educating students and staff about student differences where tolerance and appreciation of everyone is expected. Jasmine co-founded the Multi-Cultural Club at Needham High School and was also actively involved in the Civil Rights Team and a member of the Civil Rights Review Board. During the summer Jasmine worked at a local station learning about the behind-the-scenes operations and she also shadowed people to learn more aspects of the trade. At Regis Jasmine is a member of AHANA (African-American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American) which is a multi cultural club that helps students to understand different people and their cultures by running events and programs to enhance knowledge of other people. Jasmine is majoring in Broadcasting and Journalism at Regis College; next semester she hopes to work at the school’s radio station.
