December Recipient – Nicholas Sever
Nick is a freshman at Georgetown University. Within Georgetown Nick attends Georgetown College where he is in the Arts & Sciences, but he has not declared a major yet. He graduated from Needham High School in '05. At Needham High School, Nick was the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the French Club, and co-captain of the ski team. He was also a Peer Tutor for two years. Nick has continued tutoring for a program called DC Schools Project. The DC Schools Project, in the Office of Volunteer and Public Service at Georgetown University, recruits Georgetown students and gives them the support necessary to effectively provide English as a Second Language tutoring services to the District's low-income youth and adults of immigrant backgrounds. Nick is also involved in the Georgetown Admissions Ambassador Program, a student volunteer organization dedicated to giving prospective students an inside look at the Georgetown experience. He is an Admissions Ambassador and will be helping to contact accepted students in January, 2006, and to host them during the April Open House. He also took an EMT certification course this semester and he is looking forward to riding with the student EMS service as an Emergency Medical Technician.
